Key features of the 2025 Subaru Forester
Ultra-versatile charging compartment
The Subaru Forester offers a load compartment that is both larger and more voluminous than in previous-generation models, putting this SUV in an excellent position in relation to the competition.
For example, you'll enjoy an opening wide enough to carry a tournament golf bag; the 60/40 split fold-flat rear seat, four tie-down hooks, two top tie-down hooks and 4 all-purpose hooks keep smaller items securely in place. The integrated motorized unit for the available power-operated tailgate frees up more space in the compartment; it also features optional automatic closing and locking functions. Sport, Limited and Premier versions also offer LED lighting on the tailgate for added convenience.
The legendary SUBARU BOXER® engine
The atmospheric 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER® 4-cylinder engine features direct injection technology.
All 2025 Forester models feature the SI-DRIVE® engine management system with Intelligent (I) fuel-saving mode. Some versions feature a Sport (S) mode, while the Sport model adds a Sport Sharp (S#) mode for enhanced responsiveness. Next-generation X-MODE® function

On the optional dual-mode version of the system, the thumbwheel allows you to select 2 distinct settings, adapted to specific driving conditions - namely snow and dirt, or deep snow and mud. Downhill traction control
When either version of the X-MODE® function is activated, Hill Descent Control automatically maintains the driver's chosen speed when descending steep inclines, modulating speed and braking and allowing the driver to concentrate fully on steering and cornering maneuvers.
